Last night, after being called a slew of really really horrible things by my mother-in-law for absolutely no reason save for a mental illness she claims is under control, I realized I have said this thing to many people close to me in my life.

Since I’ve had a baby, it’s very hard for me to find time to sit down and dedicate actual time to creating art; something I didn’t realize I needed so much in my life until I couldn’t do it anymore. So I’ve been creating art, specifically digital collage, on my iPhone using photos from my recent FaceTime photoshoots. It’s just easy when I’ve got 5 or 10 minutes to spare and have my phone on me anyway. Pretty crazy to me that I’m bypassing a DSLR and desktop computer (and traditional art methods) and literally using my phone for every creative endeavor lately. I worry a lot about where technology is taking us, but in this regard I am so very grateful for it.

Before this girl was born, my husband and I would talk at length about how strange it would be to finally meet her, wondered what she’d look like, who she’d be. When she was a baby we’d marvel at how tiny she was, yet how big her personality, and we’d talk about how strange it would be to imagine her as a child, walking around, talking even. It all seemed so distant & strange and impossible to really comprehend.

Last weekend the Tulsa, OK area got an unusual amount of snow. My family and I just moved from Denver to a 7 acre property about 30 minutes south of Tulsa. This particular piece of land happens to have a small lake (or a big pond) on the property and the sudden and ample snowfall completely transformed this thing into a picturesque scene out of a storybook or painting.

The trip was of course, wonderful, until the last 30 minutes of the drive home when Serenica's engine began stalling on us whenever we'd drop beneath a certain speed (hoping it's a minor fix!). Fortunately, after stalling out on several occasions and getting it restarted again, she died right inside our RV storage lot gate and wouldn't turn over.

Grasping for something good.

I have never seen so many acting against their own best interests, so many unknowingly acting and reacting in fear, so many heedless or reckless (or both) toward the shattering truth that we really don’t have much time here—with the souls
