"In 2009, while going through her family’s storage shed, Rebecca Tillett came across some old photographs and posted them on Flickr. Who knew they would catch our editors’ eyes?"

I'm in Issue 12 of Impracabeza, an online Spanish arts and design journal, this month. If you appreciate art, like, at all, I seriously urge you to check out the work in this mag. It's so absolutely mind-blowing that I'm pretty much convinced my work doesn't deserve to be seen next to such complete amazingness.

I tied for second place (silver ain't shabby!) in the Best Artist category in this year's Colorado Springs Independent Best Of awards and am quite proud of myself for my first attempt at winning an award. BIG thanks to everyone who voted for me and GIANT congratulations to all the other winners!

This is a 10x15 print of Trash. Originally shot in downtown Colorado Springs on Christmas morning of 2008. It was printed as a test print (and then later hung in my home for a while). Because it was a test/proof it's full bleed and does not have the white border that you see here.

I was recently invited to submit some work for a feature in quint magazine. Now you might be asking yourself "What exactly is a Quint Magazine?" Well, I'll tell you: it's an incredibly designed and quite gorgeous Dubai-based magazine focusing on the arts. I have to admit, most of my success resides in the Western European region so I was both shocked and flattered to learn I had some fans in the UAE!

Last year, I participated in a design event called Drawgasmic. They published a book with all of the contributors and having ordered it in December, I finally received it the other day. I think it's very cute and well put together.

This is an 11x14 Untitled b&w print from my Beginnings set (which include images from 2003 and earlier; click the photo to see more) that was actually originally printed to send to Taschen for inclusion into the book The New Erotic Photography back in 2007. This is the actual print they scanned and returned to me.

Last Fall I stumbled on a box full of hundreds of Kodachrome slides that belonged to my great-grandparents and committed months of my time to scanning and retouching most of them in the ultimate hopes of publishing a book to give to my family as Christmas gifts. I accomplished this monumental task and can without a doubt claim it to be one of my proudest achievements.

Last May, I flew to Italy with my husband Adam, my cousin Cassie, and my friend Lindsay to attend the opening of my solo exhibition at the Mondo Bizzarro Gallery in Rome. None of us had ever been and were all thoroughly thrilled at the opportunity. We saw as much as humanly possible in 4 days and I had my camera every step of the way (of course!). I took thousands of photos and then spent much time selecting and post-processing my favorites in the weeks following my return. Now those very same photos will be showcased ( and hopefully sold!) at the ADD Festival in Rome at the Gallery of Contemporary Art next weekend, June 25th.

A friend and commenter on this lovely blog of mine recently asked to see a before and after example of one of my recent refurbished images and I am happily obliging. Time must be changing me because this is something I would have never previously been really comfortable doing. This is most definitely because I consider the image straight out of my camera unfinished work and have always felt the original impression and opinion of the finished image would then be compromised. Quite like seeing a "making-of" special on a good movie. As interesting as I find them I also believe they kind of ruin the magic of the movie itself. I also don't like the prospect of having to defend my raw images to "REAL" pompous photographers who take every opportunity to tell every poor soul who'll listen that their work is "straight out of the camera" and "has not been touched by Photoshop at all" in a simultaneous effort to put themselves on a pedestal and insult those of us who use and enjoy Photoshop like film photographers of the past used and enjoyed darkrooms.

I'm in this month's issue of Daydreaming Magazine. Once you get through the splash page, just click on April. And please be sure to check out the other artists in that issue...most of the work is illustration or mixed media and I'm thoroughly impressed with it.

If you're a follower of my work and have been for some time, you're probably familiar with many of my past site designs (all created by me). I owe this amazing new website to my friend Amanda Hawkins of Little Bird or perhaps better known as Ahhh Design. It's so fresh and new and fantastic I've been doing cartwheels since the moment I saw it.
